The competition announcement of the 18th edition of the contest promoted by Caff\u00e8 Moak has now closed.<\/h3>\n

Participants all around Italy registered. People of different age, profession and provenance, who share their passion for writing and the will to put themselves on the line. The announcement of the 18th Caff\u00e8 Letterario Moak<\/a>\u00a0edition has closed with around 300 people that signed up this year. As of today, the stories will be examined by the reading committee. One thing stands out: the title \u201csuspended coffee\u201d appears in many unpublished works. Perhaps a sign that \u2013 beyond the contest\u2019s specified topic that coffee shall be mentioned in all its forms \u2013 the values of hospitality, solidarity and sharing nowadays are deeply felt.<\/p>\n

The reading committee is working on a first skimming of the best short stories (about 30), to be submitted to the jury presided over by <\/span>Piero Dorfles<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 journalist and curator of various radio and television programmes for RAI (Italian state broadcaster) \u2013 assisted by Nadia Terranova<\/b>(writer and journalist of Il Sole 24 ore), Antonio Pascale<\/b>(journalist and writer), bookseller Aldo Addis<\/b>(director of Scuola Librai Italiani), and Sabina Minardi<\/b>, journalist of the cultural pages of L’Espresso. Their task is to select the best 15 unpublished works and choose five finalists among these<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Homage to Samuel Beckett<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The ten best works will be published in the anthology \u201c<\/span>I racconti del caff\u00e8<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u201d. Its cover 2019 will be dedicated to the Irish writer and winner of the Nobel Prize in literature Samuel Beckett<\/b>, remembering the thirtieth anniversary of his death. The three winners will be announced during the prize-giving evening<\/b>presented by Betty Senatore<\/b>, which will be held in Modica on October 5th<\/sup><\/b>. Additionally, Moak will award the youngest and most talented writer the <\/span>\u201cQuadrato della Palma<\/span><\/strong>\u201d: a prize that the company has been promoting for nine editions in memory of the Modican writer <\/span>\u00a0Franco Antonio Belgiorno<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
