From March 5th<\/sup> to 29th<\/sup>, Mantua will host the first edition of the event dedicated to female photography.<\/h3>\n

\u201cFemale Photography\u201d. It\u2019s not only the biennial\u2019s title or an event that exhibits and speaks about arts. It\u2019s also \u2013 and above all \u2013 a very precise aim: revealing female \u201cvoices\u201d that constantly face complex and cruel topics with strength and intelligence. In about a month\u2019s time \u00a0\u2013 from March 5th to 29th<\/sup> \u2013 Mantua will host the first edition of an event that was created by the association \u201cLa Papessa\u201d (The Female Pope<\/i>), which artistic director is, not by chance, a woman<\/span>, Alessia Locatelli<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Moak<\/a> <\/strong>has been promoting the international photo contest\u00a0<\/span>Fuori Fuoco<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> for several years and shares BBF\u2019s passion for visual arts and, therefore, will be partner of the biennial. Moreover, a coffee distribution corner will be on site throughout the duration of the event. The full programme was presented to the press yesterday at Milan\u2019s Triennale (picture above<\/i>). It includes 12 exhibitions, 10 talks, 3 workshops, portfolio readings and screenings with the highest representatives of current Italian and International photography<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The topic is work, seen from a female perspective. \u201cWe would like to spread messages of equality through photography. In a society where a balanced gender equality does not yet exist and which story is often told through male eyes, female photography is poorly represented and often stereotyped. The Biennial is an opportunity to give important projects of exceptional photographers from all over the world the right visibility<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

A highly topical and thorny subject described in the snapshots of <\/span>Daro Sulakauri <\/span><\/strong>illustrating the miners of Georgia, or through the eyes of Thau boxing girls by <\/span>Sandra Hoy<\/strong>n<\/span>, the<\/span> Cinderellas<\/span><\/strong>, transsexuals from Bangladesh in the pictures of <\/span>Annalisa Natali Murri<\/span><\/strong>, the dreams of a group of teenagers portrayed by <\/span>Claudia Corrent<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Embroidered hands of <\/span> Eliza Bennet<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The pictures of Eliza Bennet<\/b> reveal that female work is not necessarily delicate: the snapshots of her project have a major impact, as they show how she literally \u201cembroidered\u201d her hands<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is definitely worth a visit. Not only to admire art, but also to focus on what is happening in the world nowadays through the eyes and the vision of great female artists and interpreters of reality<\/span>.<\/p>\n
