Ethical and sustainable creativeness. Coffee grounds give life to eco-paper.

Supporting the environmental protection and preservation of rights of man is part of the Moak philosophy. Not only because the company chose to produce the Bio Fair blend – Organic and Fairtrade certified coffee – but also for the careful selection of sustainable suppliers. Like Favini, historical Italian paper factory, which patented the first and only line of ecological papers made with food waste replacing up to 15% of cellulose coming from trees. What’s more, if there are also coffee grounds included, the liaison with Moak is even stronger. Thanks to hundreds of hours spent with research and improvement techniques, Favini managed to turn coffee by-products into an extraordinary paper, which personality emerges from coffee bean residuals that are quite visible on surface. A paper with accentuated ecological connotation and a strong emotional impact that Moak chose in order to create special projects, such as the love generaction line, where the use of Crush – for the exercise book covers as well as the coffee and love cup packaging – increased the value of the product even more and strengthened an ethical and sustainable message. Favini did not restrict its search only to coffee, but used also other food waste, like by-products of corn, citrus fruits, kiwi, olives, almonds and hazelnuts, giving life to seven extraordinary papers overall, in different shades and with signs of the raw materials they derive from.

By using these materials at the time of natural resource scarcity of the planet, Favini reduces the pression on forests and gives new life to scraps; maybe even five times, which is the usual number of times a high-quality paper is recycled. In coherence with Favini’s commitment in support of the environment, the new paper is FSC certified, made with 100% self-produced green energy and including 30% recycled post-consumer fibre. These requirements ensured Favini important recognitions, such as the Luxe Pack in Green Award for presenting the most innovative solution of ecological packaging.a
