Moak becomes partner of ADI, Association of Industrial Design, the institution that established the “Golden Compasses” – the most renowned Design world prize. This prestigious award was made official last June “for the attention to design and planning with cultural awareness” the company showed in the historical process of product and brand modernization and innovation.
A research and cooperation path that will involve Moak in some important initiatives, which are explained by ADI Sicilia president Vincenzo Castellana in this interview.
One of the first cooperation projects with ADI is the one of Business Museum. What does it entail?
The research path will start in November with the scientific consultancy of ADI Sicilia, and will define a prototype of business museum of the Moak company. It is a scientific process of about two years under supervision of one of our researchers, Paola Rinciani, who will have to collect documents, iconographical materials, items, products of machines that tell the story of Moak and its protagonists. In Italy, one of the most important historical industrial archives is the Alessi Museum, which includes 23,000 items, storing a fascinating cross section of contemporary design. Main purpose of the Moak Museum is to increase the value of the company’s industrial patrimony, its unknown stories, its cultural and innovative processes, making all available to the community.
The cooperation between Moak and the Abadir Academy will start in November as well
The cooperation between Abadir, the School of Fine Arts of Catania and Moak sealed by Adi Sicilia will include the start up of industrial design courses that will be starting with the coming academic year 2013-2014. Students will be involved in the development of studies connected to the world of coffee, planning spaces or containers; someone will have the chance to see his/her project created by committents.
Moak will also take part in the third edition of Mediterranean Design, the international competition
The competition will be patronized by Caffè Moak and co-promoted by padjournal.net – the international design magazine. Arrived at its third edition, it is an awaited event where several industrial designers from the Mediterranean countries participate. After Istanbul and Barcelona, we actually plan to organize the third edition in Sicily.
